A unique strength of Chinese medicine and Asian massage is its ability to promote well-being and understand and treat where symptoms, including pain, are coming from. From thousands of years of continuous development, Chinese medicine has well developed theories and assessment tools for understanding the conditions that promote both health and balance, as well as those circumstances that promote sickness and imbalance. From this understanding, all symptoms, including pain of all kinds, come from different imbalances within the body.
Traditional Asian massage includes bodywork techniques that allow practitioners to integrate the information available from a variety of sources— including tongue diagnosis and physical palpation—with appropriate massage techniques. When the assessment information and the corresponding bodywork strokes are combined, there is a greater chance of lasting, positive change.
